1.1 Ausschreibung „SOQUA: Sozialwissenschaftliche Berufsqualifizierung für die internationale Forschung“

Während die Abschlussarbeiten des Lehrgangs 2007-2008 fertig gestellt werden, beginnen die Vorbereitungen des nächsten Lehrgangs für den Zeitraum November 2008 bis Juni 2010. SOQUA bietet eine berufsbegleitende Zusatzausbildung für AbsolventInnen eines breiten Spektrums von Studienrichtungen für akademische BerufseinsteigerInnen und junge WissenschafterInnen, die in der angewandten Sozialwissenschaft tätig sind. Teile des modular aufgebauten Studienprogramms werden mit entsprechenden ECTS-Punkten für Doktoratsstudien anerkannt (bisher: Soziologie an der Universität Wien, Sozial- und Wirtschaftswissenschaften der BOKU). Interessierte können im Mai und Juni 2008 an einem Informationsabend teilnehmen und sich anschließend bewerben. Die TeilnehmerInnen werden nach einem Begutachtungsverfahren von einer Jury ausgewählt – eine Vorgangsweise, die sich schon im ersten Lehrgang bewährt hat. Der Lehrgang, initiiert und durchgeführt gemeinsam mit SORA und FORBA, wird durch das Programm "Graduiertenförderung" des Bundesministeriums für Wissenschaft und Forschung BMWF finanziert, sodass die Teilnahme kostenlos angeboten werden kann. 2. Projekte

2.1 ZSI im 7. RP – Drei „Austrian Champions of European Research“

2.2 Assistance in creating “Regional Employment Partnerships” in the Czech Republic

<!--<A href="http://if" target="_new">!supportEmptyParas</A>--> ZSI provides assistance to the National Training Foundation within the frame of the project No. CZ.04.1.03/1.2.00.1/0008 “Labour Market Institute – Key activity No. 7: Creating the System of Formal Cooperation among Employment Services and Regional and Local Partners in the Czech Republic”. The cooperation is specified as follows: 1) Active participation in two partnership meetings with a special presentation’s focus on:

  • Austrian Territorial Employment Pacts: overview and creation of TEPs, experiences and recommendations
  • Introduction of the Co-ordination Unit for Austrian Employment Pacts
  • OECD LEED Forum on Partnerships and Local Governance and partnership diversity
  • Vienna Action Statement on Partnerships
2) Methodological support and recommendations for creating “Regional Employment Partnerships” in the Czech Republic with the view of experiences from OECD LEED Forum on Partnerships and Local Governance. 3) Preparation of comments and recommendations for materials provided by “Contracting Authority” for the introduction of the Regional Employment Partnerships into practice in the Czech Republic. 3.1 LEMAIA Working Session

<!--<A href="http://if" target="_new">!supportEmptyParas</A>--> Am 18. Februar 2008 fand am ZSI eine Veranstaltung zum Thema: "What is good practice in e-learning in formal education" statt. Die Veranstaltung wurde im Rahmen des Projektes LEMAIA http://www.lemaia.eu organisiert. Während der Veranstaltung präsentierten die Experten aus Österreich, Spanien, Slowenien und Italien ihre erfolgreichen e-learning Projekte. Die Experten setzten sich mit dem Leitthema der Veranstaltung in einer Panel Diskussion auseinander. 3.2 Österreichischer Forschungsdialog

Am 8. 4. 2008 fand in Salzburg ein Dialogforum unter dem Titel „Neue Modelle in Forschung und Innovation: Die Integration der Geistes-, Sozial- und Kulturwissenschaften" statt. 3.3 Global Philanthropists - Partners for a Knowledge based Response to Climate Change – June 1-3, 2008, Portorož, Slovenia

3.5 e-START workshop on Digital Literacy in compulsory education

ISEEP 2008, 1-4 July 2008, Torun, Poland It has become apparent over the last few years that digital literacy is an essential, fundamental and critical educational goal, and at the same time an important life skill. The importance assigned to the pursuit of digital literacy within compulsory education is clearly illustrated in a number of reports and publications, initiatives and action plans undertaken at national, European and international levels. In many of these cases, the endorsement of digital literacy is perceived as an act in response to the emergence and broadening of the “digital divide” and the promotion of an e-inclusive pedagogy. e-START project www.estart-net.org aims to establish a European Network that will provide a universal communication base to support Digital Literacy Policies and Actions in Primary & Lower Secondary (K-9) Education. The e-START Workshop, organised within the ISEEP Conference http://www.rsei.uni.torun.pl/issep/, will address the following issues:
  • Which factors are contributing/opposing the pursuit of digital literacy in compulsory education?
  • How to identify suitable metrics (indicators, measures, and statistics) which can reflect the reality of Digital Literacy in small or larger communities, countries and the EU as a whole, and give us a good picture of the level of Digital Literacy in diverse groups of the EU’s population?
  • What are the success/failure factors in action plans and policies for digital literacy, and what lessons can be learnt as best practice for the classroom?

The conference was organized at the “Imperial Riding School Vienna, A Renaissance Hotel“ Vienna, Austria on 18 – 19 February 2008 and brought together participants from 25 OECD member and non member countries in order to identify the best ways for partnerships to contribute to the design and implementation of skills development strategies which can boost competitiveness and make the economy more inclusive.
