1st European Science Diplomacy Conference

Organised by the Spanish Presidency of the European Council together with the European Commission

Datum: 18. - 19. Dezember 2023

Bereich: Forschungspolitik & Entwicklung

The conference organised by the Spanish Presidency of the European Council together with the European Commission has the objectives to take stock of the development of the European Framework for Science Diplomacy, to progress the draft framework and discussing the way ahead and to offer space for dialogue, co-creation and participation by a broad range of stakeholders and fostering science diplomacy outreach, also beyond the EU. Enhancing motivation amongst science diplomacy actors to get actively involved and creating visibility for the ongoing process is another goal of the conference

The conference will also be the occasion to celebrate the 5th anniversary of the Madrid Declaration on Science Diplomacy, which has been endorsed by over 200 experts since its adoption in December 2018 and which was developed during the S4D4C project phase that was headed by ZSI.

The European Union Science Diplomacy Alliance will be present at the conference in various roles, through its members and global networking partners who serve as speakers and panelists at the conference and through an information booth at the meet and greet area. The General Assembly of the Alliance will be held as a side event to the Conference on 18 December 2023. The  Secretariat of the EU Science Diplomacy Alliance is currently located at ZSI.
