Transforming Climate Policy Engagement with Role-Playing Games
Bereich: Technik & Wissen
Datum: 26. - 27. September 2024
At the recent APA Division 34's Online Conference, ZSI’s Katharina Koller presented on how game-based interventions, specifically role-playing games, can transform climate policy dialogue. The study, conducted within the Horizon Europe project GREAT, engaged 191 Austrian students acting as policymakers promoting green jobs.
While the study did not show significant changes in collective efficacy or action intentions, the quality of discussions during the role-play played a crucial role in changing climate beliefs. Additionally, students' green strategy ideas were shared with Austria's Klimafonds, offering valuable policy insights.
We suggest that this method holds promise for educational and research applications, especially for encouraging greater youth involvement in climate policy dialogue.
