Recommendations for research infrastructure/s in the Danube region presented

Budapest, Vienna – The ResInfra@DR WP3 Concluding Consultation Meeting took place on 27 and 28 November in Budapest, Hungary. ResInfra@DR coordinator of the international project Felix Gajdusek (Centre for Social Innovation) on the context of the event and the documents: “Research infrastructures (RI) need to be understood broadly, including all those elements, which are indispensable of conducting scientific research and disseminate results, for example all sorts of equipment and instruments, biobanks and other banks of various materials, databanks, information systems, as well as human resources operating RIs. Their primary and direct impacts are scientific, but many of those also contribute to technological and socio-economic development significantly!”
The two-day workshop focused on a set of methodological guidelines and recommendations for RI policy-makers and RI managers, which were discussed with more than 40 experts from the Danube macro region and beyond: During the last 14 months the ResInfra@DR partners have developed three guidelines and two sets of recommendations. These guidelines are focusing on (1) ex-ante assessment; (2) monitoring and the (3) the socio-economic impacts of RIs. The recommendations address (4) RI policy-makers and (5) research infrastructure managers.
The expert workshop was organised by the ResInfra@DR partner Centre for Economic and Regional Studies, Hungarian Academy of Sciences in Budapest.The Centre for Social Innovation (ZSI) in Vienna is the coordinating partner of ResInfra@DR project.
About the project
ResInfra@DR project’s mission is to improve framework conditions for research infrastructure and innovation in the Danube macro region. The key objective of the ResInfra@DR project is to contribute to the efforts for establishing new RIs and upgrading the existing ones by strengthening both policy-making and managerial capacities in the Danube macro region. The project also facilitates enhanced transnational co-operation among research infrastructures and RI managers.
