VERITY presented at a Budapest conference on science and disinformation

The Science and Society Research Group at the Ludovika University of Public Service organised a conference in Budapest on 13 October 2023 titled: ‘Science and disinformation: how science can support society against disinformation’. The conference explored the complex relationship between science, society, and disinformation.
In the framework of the conference, a panel discussion was held with the aim of examining the challenges and strategies for science communication in the context of the ever-increasing issues of dis-/misin-formation. Together with other well-renowned experts in science communication, Gábor Szüdi had a chance to discuss the the multifaceted factors influencing public trust in science and shed light on the ongoing activities and latest results of the VERITY project.
He highlighted the novel approach of the project where the interests and perspectives of non-traditional stakeholders such as social media platforms are also taken into account when assessing how trust in science can be improved in a multi-stakeholder information environment. He emphasised the message of VERITY's ecosystem view that scientists, journalists, industry representatives, and policymakers all need to work together to address mistrust in science.
