Advancing Heritage Innovation: Highlights from INHERIT's 2nd Plenary Meeting

4. Dez 2024

The INHERIT project’s 2nd plenary showcased progress and plans for innovative technologies in cultural heritage.

On 20 - 21 November, 2024, the INHERIT consortium gathered in Valladolid for the second plenary meeting, which brought together all project partners to reflect on the progress achieved over the past year and to outline plans for the future. A key focus of the meeting was the work carried out within Work Package 2, led by the Centre for Social Innovation (ZSI), which has played a central role in advancing the project’s objectives.

ZSI presented a comprehensive overview of its accomplishments. Among the most notable was the development of a stakeholder mapping database, a crucial resource designed by ZSI and enriched with contributions from the pilot partners. This database is a foundational tool for identifying and engaging relevant stakeholders across the project. Another key achievement was the delivery of two internal train-the-trainer workshops, where pilot partners were equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to implement social labs effectively. ZSI also supported the organisation and facilitation of the social labs kick-off events, which were hosted by pilot partners to foster collaboration and dialogue at the local level.

A major highlight of the past year was the successful organisation of the first external INHERIT Multi-Stakeholder Forum, which saw over 90 participants registered and more than 60 attendees. This forum marked a significant milestone for the project, encouraging knowledge sharing and cross-sectoral learning. Further, ZSI oversaw the completion of the first assessment phase of the Social Life-Cycle Analysis, which included interviews with owners, operators, and decision-makers of the pilot cases, providing valuable insights into the social dimensions of cultural heritage management. Building on these achievements, ZSI has also taken the lead in organising and facilitating the second round of social labs, which continue to promote collaborative innovation.

Looking ahead, ZSI outlined several key initiatives. The INHERIT Lab Project, a small-scale event or concept, is set to be developed by pilot partners as a platform for practical, localised action. Additionally, the third and fourth rounds of social labs will be organised in collaboration with REGEA, a pilot partner, further advancing the project’s mission.

The plenary meeting also featured an interactive mini-workshop led by ZSI. Participants were invited to address questions submitted by INHERIT Multi-Stakeholder Forum registrants, with responses to be integrated into the INHERIT website’s INFODESK. This initiative underscores the project’s commitment to fostering a dynamic, user-oriented resource for stakeholders while facilitating ongoing dialogue and knowledge exchange.

The plenary meeting in Valladolid not only celebrated the progress achieved but also reinforced the consortium's dedication to promoting sustainability, innovation, and collaboration in the management of cultural heritage. The upcoming activities promise to build on this momentum, ensuring that INHERIT continues to serve as a model for transformative change.
