Scientific-Research Institute “Geotechnological Problems of Oil, Gas and Chemistry” (Azerbaijan)

The Ministry of Education of the Azerbaijan Republic is the national authority responsible for primary, secondary, and higher education in the country. The Scientific-Research Institute “Geotechnological Problems of Oil, Gas and Chemistry” is a scientific research institute which operates under the auspices of the Ministry of Education. The main directions of Institute are also introduction of results of researches and development in a national economy and educational process, raising the level of scientific qualification of scientists and teachers (University staff), involving the students, post graduate students, doctors of philosophy, candidates of science and research officers in scientific investigations and design works. It has about 100 highly skilled specialists on its permanent staff, various research departments (i.e. “Reservoir and Petroleum Engineering”, “Oil and gas Wells Drilling”, “Oil and Gas Transportation and Storage”, “Organic Chemistry”) and 11 thematic laboratories. Some of the work done by the institute in the field of gas include: development and application of new methods in hydrocarbon extraction for determining parameters and calculating development indicators in oil, gas and condensate fields, application of nanotechnology (nanofluids) by oil production, a microprocessor-controlled and information-measurement system and artificial neural networks for measuring the throughput of natural gas in main gas pipeline, cleaning of oil polluted grounds and etc.
