The Centre for Social Innovation (ZSI) offers professional know-how in planning, managing and evaluating national and international high-level events in the field of evidence-based policies. Creative concepts, participatory approaches, and professional implementation are acknowledged features of our conferences, discussion forums, press conferences, summer schools, international project meetings, and many more event formats. ZSI also developed specific participatory exchange methods such as the “PEO critical friend review model” that is based on peer reviews promoting continuous learning. |
ZSI has internationally acknowledged experience in planning, managing, and evaluating events of different types such as international or national conferences, discussion forums, press conferences, summer schools, thematic workshops and training courses, peer reviews, project meetings, and others. Events are primarily organised in Vienna and other locations across Austria, as well as in other countries – for example in Eastern and Southeastern Europe, Latin America, or Southeast Asia – for which we usually cooperate with local partner organisations. ZSI employees are directly responsible for the overall organisation, including the development of the event’s concept, the identification of the target audience, the planning of the logistics, the promotion (e.g. via social media), and coordination of technical aspects before as well as after the event including post-event evaluations.
Some of our long-lasting reference projects in the field
ZSI, for instance, successfully organised the annual meetings of the OECD LEED Forum on Partnerships and Local Development during 2005-2011 and gathered more than 1400 policy makers, local practitioners, social entrepreneurs, business representatives, trade unions, and academics. By involving relevant ministries and Public Authorities another international conference entitled "Partnerships: Opportunities and challenges" was organised by ZSI staff in Vienna on 11-12 October 2011 and brought together more than 150 participants from EU Member States. In 2014, a large conference was organised by ZSI in Vienna under the INCO-NET WBC project, which gathered policy makers, delegates from agencies and researchers from the field of science, research and innovation policy from all over Europe with a special focus on the so called Western Balkan countries. Additionally, peer reviews promoting continuous learning in the format of a “PEO critical friend” review model were held in Portugal, Sweden, Germany, Greece, Ireland, and Austria.
Another excellent example of event organisation is the Summer School on Social Innovation (SOQUA Summer School), a post-graduate course programme that has been implemented by three social science institutes (FORBA, SORA and ZSI) since 2006.
