Changing Identities in South Eastern Europe

In 2010 the Austrian Science and Research Liaison Office Ljubljana launched in cooperation with the Centre for Social Innovation a call for proposals for projects in research cooperation and networking between research institutions in Austria, Slovenia and the Western Balkan countries. The topic of this 7th ASO-call for proposals is “Changing Identities in South Eastern Europe: Between Europeanisation, Globalisation, Regionalisation and Nationalism”. 6 projects are funded within the call and the outcomes of the projects will be presented at this conference:
• Negotiating Europe(anness): Austria, Slovenia, and the Western Balkans in the process of EU-Enlargement

• Challenging Identity Normativity: Affirmative Social Identities, Empowerment Policies and Social Cohesion

• Questioning transitional dynamics in re-defining cultural identities in South Eastern Europe
Aldo Milohnić, Peace Institute, Institute for Contemporary Social and Political Studies
• Changing identities of Ethnic Minority Groups – the Comparative Study of Autochthonous and Immigrant Groups in Austria, Croatia, Kosovo, Slovenia and Serbia

• The Challenges of Europeanisation: Mediating between National and European Identities in South Eastern Europe (SEE)

The second part of the event is reserved for discussion of future plans and individual networking.
