"New challenges for democracy - Exploring the Crisis of Trust and Democratic Legitimacy in Europe"

The newly founded regional Centre for Advanced Studies in SSH - South East Europe was established at the University of Rijeka, Croatia. It is the first of its kind in Croatia and southeast Europe in general. The inaugural conference of the Center was organised in Rijeka from16-18 October, 2013 and was supported by the Ministry for education, Science and Sport of the Republic of Croatia, European Fund for the Balkans, Open Society Fund, Erste Stiftung, German Marshall Fund and European Forum Alpbach with the institutional support of NetIAS.
The topic of the conference was: "New challenges for democracy - Exploring the Crisis of Trust and Democratic Legitimacy in Europe" while numerous questions of interest for the Southeast Europe, in particular for the Western Balkan Countries were discussed by participants and panelists. The representative of the WBC-INCO.NET took a part in the panel discussion: "Democracy in the Danube Region – EU’s Danube Strategy and its Vision of an Integrated Danube Region".
