"Solidarity between generations in work life: reality and chances"

On this year’s annual stakeholder conference of the Territorial Employment Pacts (TEP) the participants discussed “Solidarity between generations in work life:
reality and chances”: Katrin Gasior and Pieter Vanhuysse (European Centre for Social Welfare Policy and Research) compared the situation of elderly employees at the Austrian labour market with the situation in to other European countries. Roland Hanak (Ministry of Labour, Social Affairs and Consumer Protection) provided an input on Austrian labour market policies for elderly employees. Dietmar Blesky (Senioconomy), Kurt Leodolter (AUVA - Austrian social insurance for occupational risks) and Christian Rab (ÖJAB - Austrian Young Workers Movement) discussed in a panel visions to promote solidarity between generations in work life during a panel session. Monira Kerler (abif) spoke about prejudice against elderly employees and presented a hand book on methods for career guidance of elderly persons.Ursula Püringer gave insight into the experience of the company Norske Skog Bruck GmbH with generational management and explained future challenges.Working groups gave the participants the opportunities to identify areas, where Territorial Employment Pacts could serve as a valuable instrument to foster solidarity between generations in work life. Especial potential was seen in the visualisation and the further development of already existing activities and projects.

The conference took place from 23rd to 24th of October  in Schloss Seggau in Styria, Austria
