Information for Research Managers: BESTPRAC supports short term missions

17. Sep. 2015

The COST targeted network supports mobility costs building a network of administrative excellence

The upcoming deadlines are November 1, 2015 and February 1, 2016!

COST Short Term Scientific Missions (STSM) of the BESTPRAC targeted network (see http://www.bestprac.eu) are aimed at supporting individual mobility and at strengthening the existing networks and fostering collaborations by allowing scientists to visit an institution in another participating country (see http://www.cost.eu/about_cost/strategy/tn/Actions/TN1302?parties).

The aim of STSMs is to contribute to the policy and objectives of BESTPRAC, namely

  • to allow networking and exchanging financial, legal, and administrative experience;
  • knowledge sharing, knowledge transfer, and increased efficiency in project management; and
  • to establish a network for the administrative, finance and legal services in universities, research organizations and related entities.

The Applicant should normally be employed at an institution of a COST participating country having accepted the MoU of BESTPRAC, with a record of active participation in BESTPRAC.

Applicants who are early stage administrators, representing the target group of BESTPRAC and coming from so-called inclusiveness countries are particularly encouraged to submit a STSM application. All other participants of BESTPRAC interested in a STSM are, of course, also very welcome to submit a STSM application.

Detailed guidelines for the application are available PDFhere.

Applications have to be made through the online registration tool at the official COST webpage.

Contact person for any requests:  EmailMiriam RYAN (STSM Manager).

Information from the COST Head of Science Operations

COST funds cannot be spent on the preparation of proposals for funding from any source (national, European (eg COST, Horizon2020) or international). This means that it is not possible to finance from COST funds a meeting, STSM or other activity for the purpose of preparing a Horizon 2020 (or any other) proposal. It is accepted that such discussions regarding possible future proposals might take place in the margins of  Action activities, but the focus of Action activities must always be on achieving the Action objectives as stated in the Mou and/ or implementing COST policies.
