RI-LINKS2UA Summer School for Young Researchers in Odessa
4. Oct. 2017
The first summer school organised as part of the RI-LINKS2UA "Strengthening Research and Innovation Links towards Ukraine" project took place in Odessa/Ukraine last week.
As key aspects for delivering the training were chosen two specific topics - "proposal preparation in Horizon 2020" and "Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI)". During the three days, participants learned about the Horizon 2020 programme, the basics of proposal writing, how to conduct a partner and call search, how to deal with legal and financial issues and about the importance of the RRI approach when developing and executing a research project.
All summer school participants were selected based on an open call, generating interest from around 200 applicants which submitted full applications. The selected group of participants represented a broad geographical area and came from cities such as Lviv, Kiev, Sumy, Charkiw and Odessa. Based on their research priorities, participants worked with their trainers in four different groups: Resource materials, Biotechnology, Transport and Science with and for Society. After selecting a suitable call from the Horizon 2020 portal, each group needed to develop a first proposal concept together with a presentation over the course of the following three days. A main aspect for the positive evaluation of the final presentation on Thursday was the ability to show that the things learned in the days before were reflected and utilised in the preparation process.
The team of trainers for this summer school consisted of RI-LINKS2UA partners and external experts. From ZSI Gorazd Weiss and Philipp Brugner participated in the event.
Summer school review including all presentations of trainers is available on the project website!
