ESASTAP 2020 presented at Science Forum South Africa

European and South African partners of the ESASTAP 2020 project met in Pretoria from 4-8 December for a series of workshops and info days, which coincided with the Science Forum South Africa 2017. The team also used the opportunirty to hold an ad-hoc project meeting, where the current progress and upcoming activities for 2018 were discussed.
On Monday 4 December, ESASTAP 2020 hosted an Nano-safety workshop in the campus of the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research, bringing together nanotechnology experts from the EU and South Africa to discuss the current state-of-play for the sector in terms of Horizon 2020 funding opportunities for collaborative research projects.
This well-attended and lively event was followed on Wednesday 6 by two Horizon 2020 info days, with a first event focusing specifically on nanotechnology, and the second providing more general information on H2020 funding opportunities.
On Thursday 6 and Friday 7 December, the ESASTAP 2020 participated in the high-profile Science Forum South Africa 2017, which was opened by Deputy President of South Africa, Cyril Ramaphosa. The team supported a session on "The Essence of Frontier Science for Inclusive Development", which included such distinguished panelists as the European Commission Directorate-General for Research and Innovation Robert-Jan Smits and the Vice President of the European Research Council, Prof. Klaus Bock.
