ENTRANCES Project successfully launched with virtual Kick-off Meeting
19. May. 2020
On the 5th, 6th and 7th of January 2020, the ENTRANCES project (ENergy TRANsitions from Coal and carbon: Effects on Societies), funded by the EU Horizon 2020 programme, held a virtual Kick-off meeting.
The ENTRANCES project addresses the challenges facing coal and carbon intensive regions within a multi-contextual framework focusing on de-carbonisation policies, de-territorialisation processes caused by this transition and the territorial dimension of the clean energy transition in the European Union. A multidimensional and multidisciplinary framework and a common methodology are applied to regional case studies in Austria, Germany, Poland, and Romania among others.
The ENTRANCES project combines as many as 6 different analytical dimensions in its multidimensional research approach, ranging from socio-economic to socio-psychological research strands, among others. Therefore, tight cooperation by all partners involved is important to ensure a common research approach and methodology. All partners presented their respective work packages and received constructive comments by the consortium, which helped to update all partners and to bring approaches in line.
The meeting, which was originally planned to take place in Brussels, was shifted to an online meeting to enable a successful project start even in times of national lockdowns due to Covid19. More than 50 people participated in the kick-off-meeting and ensured that the virtual project start, something unprecedented for most project partners, became a success.
