A European strategy for socio-economic recovery after COVID-19

9. Jul. 2020

Final version of the policy roadmap developed by weTHINK.eu now available

weTHINK.eu, a social network for strategic analysis, invited ZSI to join for its latest strategy project aiming to develop a "European Strategy for Socio-Economic Recovery of Southeastern Europe after the COVID-19 induced crisis".

Since April, a joint policy roadmap was drafted between eight regional European think-tanks and the weTHINK.eu platform under. Now the final version of the roadmap is available on the weTHINK.eu website. Through the press team of weTHINK.eu the policy roadmap was distributed to regional media outlets in both EU and Western Balkan countries.

What exactly happened over the past three months, in order to propose this policy roadmap?

Under the specific initiative weBuildBackSmart the eight involved regional think-tanks (Osservatorio Balcani e Caucaso, Institute for Development and International Relations, Central European Institute of Asian Studies, Centre for Social Innovation, Konrad Adenauer Stiftung, Cooperation and Development Institute, Kosovar Centre for Security Studies and the Centre for International Relations) together with weTHINK.eu have driven this bottom-up initiative over the past three months in order to offer a fresh and regional view on the post-COVID-19 era in Southeast Europe (SEE).

The goal of weBuildBackSmart is to build an inclusive bottom-up initiative, collecting the opinions of all strategy makers in SEE to continuously develop a joint strategy policy roadmap. Strategy makers are companies, policy makers, NGOs, academia, social partners and interested THINKERS. Through a cocktail of research findings, expert interviews and roundtable discussions, the multi-stakeholder participants provide valuable insights into what both the EU and SEE countries should focus on in the months and years ahead.

You can read the final policy roadmap HERE. The press release including a summary and original statements from the involved experts can be found HERE.
