First newsletter of the ENTRANCES project on coal & carbon transition published!
27. Nov. 2020
The ENTRANCES project releases its first newsletter! ENTRANCES stands for ENergy TRANsitions from Coal and carbon: Effects on Societies. The project focuses on Clean Energy Transition in Coal & Carbon intensive regions and is funded by the EU Horizon 2020 programme. In this first issue of its newsletter, Ricardo Garcia Mira, the project coordinator and renown Psychologist, gives an overview of the project, its framework and goals.
As he notes: "Clean Energy Transition is the need of the hour, and by 2030 the European Union targets to cut carbon emissions by at least 40%, as compared to 1990 levels. To achieve these ambitious targets, it is necessary to accelerate the energy transition and to rapidly decarbonise the energy sector, which is responsible for about 75% of EU greenhouse gas emissions. When it comes to implementing consequent policies, a set of practical, economic, social, political and cultural problems arise. ENTRANCES is precisely addressed to this challenge."
