The Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology (MHEST) is responsible for defining the strategic and developmental goals for research and development activities in Slovenia, harmonising higher education with the Bologna guidelines, promoting a favourable macroeconomic environment for innovation through financial support for companies in the field of technological development, coordinating the implementation of the programme in the area of the information society, and establishing broadband networks to link up educational, cultural, research and development spheres.
