The Academy of Finland is a funding organisation for high-quality scientific research. Its mission is also to serve as an expert in science and science policy, and to strengthen the position of science and research.
AKA works to advance the renewal and diversity of research, and supports the extensive application of research results for the benefit of welfare, culture, the economy and the environment. Its operations cover the full spectrum of scientific disciplines within the four Research Councils; Biosciences and Environment, Culture and Society, Health and Natural Sciences and Engineering.
The main focus of the AKA’s development activities is on the multifaceted advancement of professional research career options, the establishment of cutting-edge research environments and the utilisation of international opportunities.
