Public Foundation for the Development of Industry - Hungary (Hungary)
Acronym: IFKA
The Public Foundation for the Development of Industry (IFKA) has been active in Hungarian research, technological development and innovation (RTDI) since 1990. Besides its three organisational units, the IFKAs Innovation Group has been established for initiating and implementing RTDI programmes. As one of IFKAs most important missions is to coordinate and link the various actors of business, science and policy making, IFKA plays the role of bridging the scientific- and corporate spheres by combining basic and applied research and corporate needs, with the Foundations higher education (universities and colleges), academic business as well as government relations.
Supporting domestic and international innovation is of particular importance to IFKA. In addition to organisational- and process innovation, great emphasis is placed on product- and technological innovation, and the economic benefits thereof. Within the framework of the Innovation Award in 2009 we established the Organisational Innovation Award (given in the Parliament building in the presence of the Hungarian President) to acknowledge outstanding endeavour. IFKA pays particular attention to the new generations. It strives to raise the scientific interest of young talented people by supporting the Youth Innovation Competition and by a series broadcasted on television.
IFKA has also been conducting concrete RTDI activities since 2004. References range from the food sector to the construction industry and the wholesale pharmaceutical trade, and the countless sectors in between; as we seek to help our partners formulate their specific R&D requirements.
