EUROSCIENCE is a European non-profit grassroots association.

EUROSCIENCE is a European non-profit grassroots association open to research professionals, teachers, students, science administrators, policy-makers, etc. and generally to any citizen interested in science and technology and its links with society. Euroscience represents not only European scientists of all ages, disciplines and nationalities but also the business sector and public institutions such as universities and research institutes. Euroscience has a long experience in Science Policy and Project Management and in organizing conferences and debates. Euroscience has been a contributor to FP6, FP7 and Horizon 2020 (ERC, EU and associated countries, European Charter for Researchers and Code of Conduct for Recruitment etc.) Science in society activities, science communication and ethics in science have been priorities of Euroscience since its foundation. In 2004 Euroscience organized the first « Euroscience Open Forum - ESOF », a fully multidisciplinary conference of a new model in Europe. ESOF is a pan-European biennial meeting dedicated to scientific research, science and innovation policies, science and society. Euroscience has been the permanent structure for five ESOF’s since ESOF2004 and is at the present preparing ESOF 2014 taking place in Copenhagen. A typical figure of an ESOF event is 5000 participants, 500 speaker, 400 accredited journalists. Euroscience has been coordinator of EARTHWAKE and partner of EUROWISTDOM, FP6 programmes on science communication through television. Along the lines of these projects and in collaboration with EuroPAWS a “European Science TV & New Media Festival” took place in 2010 in Strasbourg and in 2012 in Dublin with Award ceremony in Lisbon. Preparation is going on for a third edition. “In the Spirit of Sakharov – Science , ethics and politics: yesterday and tomorrow” is a publication of the contributions of a conference organized in 2008 by Euroscience. It was a follow-up of a colloquium in 2001 under the aegis of Euroscience and Unesco: “Les scientifiques et les droits de l’Homme”. In 2011 Euroscience, in collaboration with STOA of the European Parliament, organized a workshop on “NanoSafety-Risk Governance of Manufactured Nanoparticles” in Lyon. During its 15 years of existence Euroscience has initiated projects and assisted its local sections all over Europe in organizing debates on local and European issues in Athens, Belgrade, Bucharest, Grenoble, Kiev, Paris, St.Petersburg, Saratov, Sofia, Tallin, Tbilissi, …A fruitful dialogue between advanced research and the poetry of our times takes place at each ESOF where poets from all over Europe gather under the umbrella of Euroscience.
