Ruse Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Bulgaria)

The Ruse Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) is a NGO for public purposes. It has extensive knowledge and experience in local and regional development, SME development, export and investment promotion. It promotes and supports local business in providing a comprehensive range of business and trade related services, including representing individual and collective interests of its members. The principle activities of RCCI are the promotion of the economic development of the Ruse region; lobbying at local and central government and other public authorities to promote an understanding of the role and needs of business and providing a wide range of services to member and non-member companies to help them develop their business, both at national and international level. It also provides internationalisation services, such as business partnership opportunities information and exhibition organisation. RCCI has extensive experience not only in business support activities, but also in project implementation. It has interests in the fields of entrepreneurship and innovations and works actively for their promotion. It has extensive project implementation experience under EU funded programmes, among which are PHARE 2004 and the Cross-Border Cooperation Programme 2007-2013. RCCI has experience in elaborating and coordinating training modules for women -potential entrepreneurs interested in starting and managing their own business. The Chamber has also acted as an organiser of training sessions in entrepreneurship and how-to-start-a-business for long-term unemployed people and at the same time providing consultancy services to newly established SMEs. The Chamber is also an initiator and founder member of the Ruse Business Centre for support of SMEs, the Business Incubator and the Management and Business Development Centre. RCCI is the first Bulgarian organisation to be an associate member of the European BIC network - the leading innovation network uniting more than 150 Business and Innovation Centres (BICs) all over the EU. RCCI has extensive experience in projects, funded by EU programmes. The Chamber has recently closed a project, called “INNOBRIDGE – Establishment of a cross-border business innovation network”, under the Romania-Bulgaria cross-border cooperation programme 2007-2013 as a Lead Partner. Its main goals have been to create a business and innovation centre, become a member of The European Business & Innovation Centre Network and to build its capacity as part of the successful operation of the centre.
