ETH Zürich is one of the leading international universities for technology and the natural sciences.
Founded in 1855 as the Federal Polytechnical School, ETH Zürich has, from the outset, been a national center for education with international appeal, attracting talent from all over the world. Today it offers researchers an inspiring working environment and its students a comprehensive education. ETH Zürich is well‐known for its excellent education, ground‐breaking fundamental research and for putting its new findings directly into practice. It has some 18,000 students from over 100 different countries, 3,800 of whom are doctoral students. About 500 professors currently teach and conduct research in the areas of engineering, architecture, mathematics, natural sciences, system‐oriented sciences, and management and social sciences. ETH Zürich regularly appears at the top of international rankings as one of the best universities in the world. 21 Nobel laureates have studied, taught or conducted research at ETH Zürich, underlining the excellent reputation of the institute. Since 1992 ETH Zürich has participated in the European Framework Programmes.
EU GrantsAccess is ETH Zürich’s EU Grants Office and EURAXESS Service Centre and is a unit of 18 persons directly reporting the Vice President of Research of ETH Zürich. It is a joint initiative with the University of Zurich and supports and promotes international academic cooperation between scientists and scholars. The office collaborates with the institutions legal, financial and HR departments and is an active participant in shaping the internationalization strategy of both universities and their associated research centers. As a member of the Swiss Information Network for EU Research Programmes (Euresearch), EU GrantsAccess collaborates with its partners on a national and international level and is currently involved in 792 FP7 projects including 223 Marie‐Curie‐Fellowships and 111 ERC projects as well as 12 NIH projects and around 100 Horizon 2020 projects. EU GrantsAccess has coordinated the Innovation Union project TANDEM (2012‐2014) and is presently a partner in the REFLEX project (2015‐2017) and the EURAXESS TOPIII (2015‐2018) project.
