It is a comprehensive university, offering 51 undergraduate programs, more than 1 00 options for certificate courses, 24 Master's and 21 Doctorate programs. Increasingly consolidating its name as a top research university, committed to knowledge advancement, as well as to scientific and technological progress, PUCRS advances the economic and social development of its surrounding community. The quality level of research conducted at PUCRS directly reflects its excellence in teaching, in both graduate and undergraduate programs. This teaching-research interaction is the driving force distinguishing the quality of PUCRS, strengthening its role in the community. PUCRS has established in 2006 an Innovation and Entrepreneurship Network (INOVAPUCRS) that brings together a group of actors, policies and mechanisms for promoting innovation and entrepreneurship. The INOVAPUCRS network seeks to articulate all those involved in teaching, research and extension, promoting multidisciplinary efforts to find solutions to economic, social, environmental and cultural demands of society. Thus, the relationship between University and Society occurs in two ways: by identifying needs in society that rises the development of research, and by applying the knowledge available at the University in solving problems. Thus, the INOVAPUCRS network promotes interaction and the relationship between academic research laboratories and academic units that support entrepreneurship and innovation.
