TUHH is a technical university, founded in 1978 in Hamburg, Germany. It currently has a staff consisting of 100 professors, 500 research assistants, and almost 6000 students. TUHH is especially focused on engineering sciences; it offers 14 Bachelor and 16 Master of Science study programs in German, in addition to 15 Master of Science study programs in English. TUHH is a global player, and every fifth student comes from abroad. Excellence in teaching and research are the university’s prior objectives. In 2009, more than one third of the total budget comes from external funds, especially from research projects conducted with industry. TUHH has many programs to educate people who look for additional qualifications. For instance, within the scope of the cooperation between TUHH and Northern Institute of Technology, there are MBA programs, which target professionals from industry. At the interface of engineering and economics, TUHH carries on application-oriented research and teaching in the areas of logistics, supply chain management and business management. Their goal is to develop scientifically founded and practically realizable concepts through interdisciplinary research cooperation, as well as through intense collaboration and networking with manufacturing enterprises and service providers.
