solidarity economy as a field of social innovation
While the concept of social innovation is not yet established in social sciences it becomes a main focus in debates on societal strategies of governance, coordination and intervention. This research project aims to further elaborate the concept of social innovation on the basis of empirical case studies. These case studies focus on initiatives in the field of solidarity economy (alternative currency systems, resource sharing, etc.), which are often based on local networks including diverse stakeholders - the case studies investigate the structure of these networks and the constellation and function of stakeholders. Additionally, the case studies describe the path of institutionalisation of these initiatives on the basis of expert interviews.
