Voluntary Industrial Code of Practice for global eWork
Voluntary Industrial Code of Practice (VIP) refers to a unilateral commitment among international companies to consider ethical aspects when establishing and carrying out IST-enabled work across national borders. The long-term objective was to raise awareness among large companies and invite them to contribute to the development of a humane global Information Society.
The work within VIP included the following activities:
* to clarify the essence of business ethics and conduct a dialogue on corporate responsibilities among VIP partners and participants
* to review all relevant existing conventions and codes of conduct applicable for international business and work across national borders
* to develop a web-based tool that facilitates stimulation, control and analysis of consensus building processes (http://vip.zsi.at)
* to suggest an ethical code for IST-enabled work performed across national borders - "Unomondo Code"
* to obtain endorsement of the "Unomondo Code" by 100 international companies
