The Labour Market and Employment Situation of Immigrants in the Region

Intercultural Opening encompasses a concept of integration as a mutual process rather than a one-sided adaptation by immigrants.
In this context CSI  conducted a study to discover:


* the determinants of the occupational integration of immigrants in the region,
* the actual occupational and education experiences and careers and language skills of immigrants,
* the current occupations and working conditions of immigrants,
* the obstacles to an optimal use of any occupational training immigrants have received,
* the extent to which immigrants make use of social resources and public infrastructure in order to improve their position.


Together with the other partners a planning document for adequate measures to achieve a better matching of existing skills with occupations was developed.

Consortium:
The municipalities of Kapfenberg, Leoben, and Knittelfeld (including the Immigrant Councils of Leoben and Knittelfeld), Territorial Employment Pact Upper Styria East, Territorial Employment Pact Upper Styria West, Public Employment Service Styria, Austrian Trade Union Federation, Business Chamber of Styria, ISOP - Innovative Social Projects, Training Centre Fohnsdorf, Institute for Occupational Advancement (BFI) Styria, BAB, Centre for Social Innovation.
