Monitoring of the projects "Support of the universities in Serbia-Montenegro, Bosnia-Herzegovina and Kosovo 2004/2005"
The following project activities have been implemented by WUS Austria and the respective regional offices ( further information is available from the WUS Austria website www.wus-austria.org):
1. CDP+ was a further development and improvement of the previous Course Development (CDP) and the infrastructure program (CEP) of WUS Austria. CDP+ program supported the improvement of faculty courses (subjects), with the objective to facilitate the transition of higher education in SEE towards European standards. This program encouraged the faculties to introduce new subjects and to apply innovative approaches - in content and methodology - to already existing courses. Besides the prerequisite of innovation, the CDP+ placed special emphasis on (1) the relevance of the proposed course for the practical application, and in order to facilitate the integration into the European Higher Education Area on (2) the cooperation with EU universities.
2. The Brain Gain Program (BGP) was aimed at breaking the academic isolation of the universities, by inviting qualified academics originating from the region to lecture courses, which were not available at the SEE university faculties. These professors, assistant or experts in relevant fields who emigrated from former Yugoslavia had been invited to come back to teach as guest lecturers - for several days up to 3 weeks - at faculties/departments in the region. Additionally, courses by Austrian guest lecturers and lecturers, who were employed in Austria regardless of their citizenship could be funded through the BGP.
3. BALKAN CASE CHALLENGE - BCC Case Challenge (BCC) 2004/ 2005
Balkan Case Challenge was a student case study competition. It had in fact become traditional on a regional level and each year the BCC finals take place in Sarajevo with participating students from all over Southeast Europe. Due to increased interest of students, local contests for Bosnia and Herzegovina , Serbia and Montenegro and Kosova (regions where WUS Austria has its offices) were organized in November and December 2004.
ZSI was responsible for the monitoring of these project activities.
