Using microcensus-data this project explores the extent to which migrants and their offspring reach highly qualified occupations on the German labour market and whether origin- and gender-specific differences do exist. The main intention of the project is thus to examine the selectivity of educational and labour market institutions on the way to stable higher status employment by analyzing migrants’ status passages (e.g. school-to-work transition) into the country’s labour market.

 

Based on the empirical results workshops, focus groups and seminars with key actors in the main fields of action will be organised to reflect and invent strategies and policy implications to improve migrant’s education and labour market situation.
