Austrian Research and Technology Report 2022

Section: Research Policy & Development

The Research and Technology Report 2022 provides an overview of research, technology and innovation (RTI) funded by the federal government in Austria. In addition to the presentation of current research policy developments, which deals with the status of implementation of the RTI Strategy 2030 adopted at the end of 2020, research-relevant sub-strategies and the latest developments in the higher education sector, analyses of Austria's national and international RTI performance are prepared on the basis of recent data from various international rankings, from the R&D Survey 2019 and the Global Estimate 2022. The report was commissioned by the Federal Ministry of Education, Science and Research (BMBWF), the Federal Ministry for Climate Protection, Environment, Energy, Mobility, Innovation and Technology (BMK) and the Federal Ministry for Labour and Economy (BMAW). The report was prepared by a consortium consisting of WPZ Research, Zentrum für Soziale Innovation (ZSI) and KMU Forschung Austria with support from the Institute for Innovation and Technology (iit) in VDI/VDE Innovation + Technik GmbH, Technopolis and the Institute of Industrial Sciences (IWI).
