Successful start (and end): S4D4C virtual networking conference
18. Mär 2021
The S4D4C project (launched in 2018) is coming to an end. S4D4C stands for "Using Science for/in diplomacy for addressing global challenges" which is funded by Horizon 2020 - supporting current and future European science diplomacy for the benefit of European capacities, EU foreign policy goals and especially the development of solutions for global challenges.
The final conference titled "Addressing Global Challenges Together: the Role of Science Diplomacy” takes place online for 5 days, with more than 30 sessions and more than 100 speakers. There are sessions every day discussing all aspects of science diplomacy, the registration will be open until the last webinar ends.
The start of the conference was highly successful: there are already more than 1100 registrations for the conference on our virtual stage. The subjects of the lectures vary from "Environment and Sustainability: Improved Communication For Solving Global Challenges" to "Building alliances to tackle COVID-19". You can read up event reviews and have a look at the graphic recordings on the S4D4C website, where also recordings of the sessions will be made available in the next days. About 100 international speakers face relevant topics, among them ministers, ambassadors and a Nobel Prize winner. All the partners of the S4D4C project will be represented as well at the conference. The main coordination team for the final event consisted of Elke Dall and her team from the ZSI as well as the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT).
The one-week event aims at advancing the establishment of a lively European and global science diplomacy community while providing its practitioners with additional tools, knowledge and policy recommendations. As the project comes to an end, the partners are wrapping up its achievements and publish future plans.
